Contents

Why isnt there an OS X version of the Lyrics editor?

if its an issue of porting it im sure that theres alot of people that could help, including myself.

Hi, I want to know how to gain access to the data in application, can you give me some information?

 Thanks

Answer from 1st TuneWiki: Sorry , we have restriction put upon us by some very large music publishers in our path to get their blessings for the service; one is that the core database is not open freely as they are concerned about the accuracy of the lyrics and must have superuser access to their own owned music.

We plan an official API for third parties with the ability to contribute and once we do that it will be available in here as at the end of the process we envision every music lover have access to the lyric stream on any connected device.

Thanks! the TuneWiki team.

How do I add lyrics that I have?

Q: Not very well described I can't find it anywhere, how do I add lyrics that I have? and would like to share?

A: On the sidebar to the left, under "Links", click on "Song Lyrics".

Next click the "Add Song Lyrics" link, and just paste in your lyrics. Please be sure to check the spelling and make sure the lines aren't too long or they won't fit on the iPhone/iPod Touch screen.

Finally just click "Submit Song".

A little comment

Hi, nice app, but is there any chance it can read lyrics from mp3/aac tags for songs that aren't in the wiki, and then upload the text into the wiki?

I think the developer of Lyrics.app mentioned that he referenced http://www.mars.org/mailman/public/mad-dev/2002-January/000439.html for the MP3 tags, and http://atomicparsley.sourceforge.net/ for AAC tags

Needed feature

TuneWiki Developers should make some sort of area either on the site or on the iphone app itself. TO see the amount of lyrics contributed. ANd to the top contriputers

This feature is on it's way! Look for it VERY shortly! --Chadkouse 23:40, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

What about radio edits/remixes?

Are you checking song length to see which set of lyrics to display? I've noticed a few songs where the lyrics are mostly right, but perhaps a chorus is missing or added, or another entire verse. I'll try to remember to come back with some specific examples if you need them. --Kip 08:30, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeebles: Another example of this is live albums such as Radio 1 Live lounge (UK) and Radioheads live album I might be Wrong. 6 Jan 2008 17:26 GMT

Potential Bug

Hi All,

I'm a complete newbie to wiki peeps, so if I'm not doing the right thing, please let me know!

Anyway, potential bug:

I did the lyrics for Rockaway Beach by Ramones from their It's Alive live album and the green bar popped up saying it'd been synced by me and when I went back to check, the Re-Sync button was blue so all good and well

I then did the lyrics for the same song but from the studio album, Rocket To Russia, in which the lyrics start much earlier. I got confirmation it had uploaded again.

I went back to the live version to see how the lyrics played and they had been replaced by the second set I had entered for the studio album - the lyrics were therfore well out of time, but the Re-Sync button was still blue!

So am I right in thinking there could be an awful lot of duplicate work being done by different users constantly overwriting different versions of the same song?

from 1st TuneWiki We became aware of this problem very early on and are diligently working on a solution. This efforts is less than 10 days old and the list of very good ideas from the community is very impressive - and expensive to implement if we want to do everything immediately...

The direction we are thinking about is adding a fingerprinting technology stamp to each submitted song. this seems to be the best technology to add to the service but it comes with a huge problem - a price tag. We are looking for ways to deal with that problem...

I am soliciting ideas from the community, here, on how to implement fingerprinting in the space of the iPhone abilities, without slowing the system to a grind.

Hello

Im from mexico, so most of my music it's in spanish language, i was wondiring, am i allowed to send lyrics for spanish spoken songs? how can y do it? tnx

from 1st TuneWiki

Hola. Of course. Any language is happily accepted, TuneWiki is about humanity's love and cooperation of music. More than that, we will shortly empower listening to music in one language while reading the lyric stream translation - made by YOU, the community members - in other languages. Feeling is international alas expressing them takes language!

Help?

After syncing approximately 50-60 songs, I checked the "my contributions" page and nothing is found under my username. I have signed up and receive the green bar confirmation after syncing. Is there anything else I should have done.  :(

from 1st TuneWiki

We see several times user ID differ in the phone than in the system. Please remember this is a Linux based systm and is cAsE SenSitiVe . John is not equal to john.

If you will email TuneWiki@gmail.com with a few samples of the song you got green bar for, we can look it up for you.

reply to 1st TuneWiki

I see you have added a new feature to see songs based on user. The "my contributions" page is only for what has been added/edited on the Wiki pages. Disregard my email. The songs are in there. Thanks!

Problem

Unfortunately, it seems that some users are only interested in trying to win the ipod touch contest, even if it means making poor contributions. I've already come along several songs, at least a couple of which I had previously synched correctly myself, where someone rapidly scrolled through the entire lyrics all the way to the end at the very beginning of the song. I imagine some users are using this method to sync more songs rapidly so they can increase the number of their "contributions" to increase their chances of winning the contest.

This is quite unfortunate because it is to the detriment of the application as a whole, and also because people's hard work is being replaced by opportunistic users who are only in it for the prize.

HUGE Problem

I agree with the above poster. In fact, I have come across a TON of songs that are like this. I tested this and yes, you may hurry and tap through a song, fast forward to the end and still get the credit for the sync. I highly recommend a fix for this and do not award any prizes to anyone without checking their syncs first.

Don't worry, vandals will not be awarded any sync points. ~Slavik0329

Top 100 list?

Hi, maybe a quick add-on to the site: a top 100 list. Thanx!

Editing Lyrics

Hi, I tried to click on Song Lyrics and edit the lyrics of some songs, but it gave me a message that I have to be an Editor to edit songs. What should be done for being an Editor

Thanks

How to see what I added?

Help, I added a few songs, but when I visit [1], I only see

Here's your chance! <synclist />

Same thing happens even when I look at the presumed page of the current champion, [2]. Any hints? Thanks! Doo daa 17:33, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

This is temporary, should be fixed soon! ~Slavik0329

Great, works now again, thanks. Doo daa 07:05, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Artists, track names and lyrics encoding problem

Cyric Hello. I'm russian TuneWiki and iPhone user and would like to submit some lyrics for russian artists music, and I having some problems with encoding. In WikiEdit russian tracks looks like on this picture. If i then open some track and try to submit lyrics for it (on russian), the text will become something like "???? ???? ?????? ? ??...". It would be good if you can solve the problem. And thank you very much for the service you have created!

1st Tunewiki we are aware of this problem. the characters for Kirilic are ASCI7; there is a version for UTF8 that solve the issue however you 3ill need to submit the lyrics over HTML then sync them on your phone. Sorry but this is how it is until we find a way to convert ASCII7 to UTF8 fro all languages (Greec, Hebrew , Russian Arabic and so on) that used to have character set > 127 on the old "DOS" before UTF8 and up were available!
Please use the HTML editor for now; please email your user ID to tunewiki@gmail.com and we will grant you beta access to the area.

Cyric 1st Tunewiki, thank you for answering, I tried to submit some lyrics over HTML, but the lyrics (no matter what language it is, i tried to submit in transliteration) doesn't uploads if an artist/track name is in russian.

Some feedback: Also, while testing the submition, I've found out, that HTML form omits any rows, that have symbols "[]" in it. (don't know if it's usefull information)

Slavik0329 It seems that the problem with the russian characters will be fixed in a near future update. Also, in the lyrics, whenever you use '[]', the lyric editor picks it up as a timestamp as all the timestamos are enclosed in those brackets.

Feature request: Update iTunes numbers played counter / last played date

Hi, would it be possible to update the iTunes "numbers played" counter and the "last played date" for every song played? This would help me tremendously (find out what I heard yesterday, synch only songs not played in the past x days etc.). Thanks! Doo daa 07:09, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

from TuneWiki team This is a very good idea. we actually are working on the other side of the same idea - songs played most by the community on any time period. but you idea of shewing play counter like the iPod in our software has merit. we will add it to 'nice to have' list

I'm not sure you understood me correctly: I suggest that you update the actual iPod-counter so that I can see when I last played something inside iTunes. Doo daa 00:15, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

"Sorry, No Lyrics Yet!"

I keep getting the error message of "Sorry, No Lyrics Yet!" but I know there are lyrics for these songs because I've gone here and searched for them, and they are indeed, there. Yet, my iPod touch can't seem to connect to the lyric server or something. And it's not like there's something wrong with my iPod because I had found lyrics (and synced a few songs) just a few hours ago. I don't know if this is something wrong with my iPod (maybe because in those few hours, I installed BSD system (any relationship?)) or if it's just that the lyrics server is really busy. Thanks for any help!

--- I'm seeing this error every time as well. I'm on a jailbroken 1.1.3 phone - does TuneWiki work with 1.1.3? As with the above poster, I have BSD subsystem installed (required part of 1.1.3 jailbreak - it won't even let me uninstall it, only reinstall)

Refer to the article, Tunewiki on 1.1.3. This issue has been sorted out

Song misnamed

The song "New Soul" has been misnamed as "New Song" This is a problem when trying to find the lyrics for the database from my iPhone when the song name doesnt match.

Thanks

Tunewiki on iPhone 1.1.3

I am not able to get lyrics on the iPhone with 1.1.3 firmware. Anyone else having a similar problem?

What happens is the 1.1.3 upgrade erased your LRC directory; you will need to remake it

directory /private/var/root/Media/LRC and set the permissions of 0777 recursively.
THIS WILL BE FIXED IN THE NEXT RELEASE (coming very soon!).

best, TuneWiki team.

Thanks for the fix. Perhaps TuneWiki can be updated to do this on install (maybe only if 1.1.3 is detected)? More and more people will be moving to 1.1.3... EDIT: Still not fixed, have created a directory called "LRC" within /private/var/root/Media and set full permissions, but still getting the no lyrics found error. As far as I can tell, there is no way to get TuneWiki working on 1.1.3. EDIT 2: Got it working, permissions hadn't saved. Thanks!

I am having the same problem, but have not found anyone with a fix for it 02-09-08

Guys, I tried the changes and its working fine for me on 1.1.3. Make sure that the permissiona are set to 0777, or else it won't work properly.

--Working here too.

how do you go to private/var/root/Media/LRC and change what you guys say???

-beyond the scope of this site. google "0777 iphone ftp winscp" or something similar - essentially you ftp into your iphone with winscp and change the permissions. Google for more.

i don't get it can you explain each step to me please i really want to fix it but i don't understand what you guys are sayinng???

You should also check for /Applications/TuneWiki.app/LRC directory if it's not there just create it and set 777 rights, works for me.

Is there a way to identify a song that should work? Since "Search Lyrics" isn't working, I need to know if it's just my collection or if something's wrong. I have the LRC directory with permissions set correctly for 1.1.3, with version 2.1, and every song I play still comes up "Sorry, No Lyrics Yet".

TuneWiki For Mac OS?

Is it possible to port the iphone version of TuneWiki application to a Mac version? I love Mac Front Row to play music and displaying the frontcover on my TV. It will be a great if I can use TuneWiki on my Mac!!! Any thoughts?

problem starting TuneWiki

Hi, I have iPhone 1.1.1 but I'm not able to use TuneWiki on it, every time i start the application it shuts itself down automatically, I upgraded to 2.1 with no luck

TuneWiki For Java Based Phones

Hi there - just read about your awesome app on Wired. It looks super! I'm very keen to know when you get a java based version so I can run it on my Sony Ericsson :) I also run a community off-portal site and I know our members would be keen to buy a copy. (www.voeveo.com) Thanks!

I agree to the Java Base application

My LG KU990 is JAR and FLASH base. Is there anyway to get TuneWiki to run it on JAVA or something? That would tremendously reach out to a lot of mobile phones out there. So please, I really love this application but I do not like restrictions on iPHONE to bother with it.
